Cody’s Background & Experience
Cody’s commitment to the law started long before he ever set foot in a courtroom as a licensed attorney. While earning his law degree at Texas Tech University School of Law, Cody was selected for the school’s highly competitive Criminal Defense Clinic, a program reserved for top students willing to represent real clients in real cases, from misdemeanors to felonies, in courts across Lubbock County. It was hands-on, high-stakes legal work that most law students never get to experience, and it gave Cody a foundation in client advocacy that has defined his career ever since.
After graduating and passing the bar, Cody went on to build an impressive litigation career that caught the attention of his peers well beyond Nevada. Early in his practice, he was a featured speaker for three consecutive years, presenting at the Association of Defense Counsel of Northern California and Nevada’s 63rd, 64th, and 65th annual conventions as part of the “Mike Brady Year in Review” in San Francisco, one of the most respected legal conferences in the region. While the other two panel attorneys focused on California law, Cody prepared and presented Nevada case law updates. He presented alongside attorneys from leading firms, explaining the most important legal developments of the year to an audience of judges and experienced trial lawyers. That is the kind of recognition that does not come from simply practicing law; it comes from being exceptional at it. Additionally, at his prior firm, he earned the Notable Achiever Award, recognizing his excellence in practice among a competitive nationwide pool of lawyers.
